Le Sauvage45220 - CHATEAU-RENARD
This 16th century former coaching inn offers 7 entirely renovated rooms to guarantee ultimate relaxation....
Gardens created in keeping with the spirit of the 17th century manor house (historical monument) which they surround, where fragrances and the trickling of water accompany your footsteps. The Fauna garden contains collections of ancient rose bushes, bulbs, perennials and shrubs, an Italian water garden, an exotic garden containing plants from far-off lands, under rare species of trees, a vintage park, avenues of three-hundred year old lime trees and orchards. The gardens were awarded the Prix Bonpland by the French National Horticultural Society and are also listed on the Route of Remarkable Gardens in the Centre region (label awarded by the Ministry of Culture and the Environment).
A number of 20th century French authors stayed here. In keeping with their romantic works, the manor house is surrounded by areas reminiscent of contrasting regions and eras. As an echo to the 17th century architecture, a French flower bed has pride of place: pruned yews surround tapestries of ancient rose bushes, perennials and rare shrubs. Subsequently, the visitor can discover the Italian pools, Asian underbush and magnolia-filled orchard, with the trickling of water creating a perfect background ambiance.
