Former tram station

Built in 1914, the Dry station was abandoned in 1934 when the line, competing with the bus service, was finally closed. This tramway line, which travelled 13 km in the Loiret, was entirely electric and far ahead of its time: traction was carried out by means of a single-phase electric network with an industrial frequency. This former station housed the workshop of the ceramist Yoland Cazenove (1914-2009). In 1953, this artist looked for a place to build his potter’s oven in Dry where his wife Gabrielle, a teacher, had just been named. The mayor of the municipality puts at his disposal the land of the small disused station. It is there that he will realize all his work recognized as that of one of the best ceramists of our time.

Did you know ?
