Château de Denainvilliers

Passionate about climatology, arboriculture and agriculture before his time, Henri-Loius Duhamel du Monceau left his mark with his research and inventions, including the magnificent horizontal windmill designed for the drying of grains. The Denainvilliers windmill is the only one of its kind in France, as is the 18th century sundial located on the staircase leading to Duhamel's former research room, which is now a small museum. Listed as a historical monument, part of the 17th century château is open to the public. Woodwork, fireplaces and barometers feature amongst the most interesting items to be seen in the château, which is situated on the "Route du Blé".
