Aristide Bruant

1851- 1925

The famous Butte Montmartre cabaret singer, immortalised by his big, black felt hat, his cape and his red scarf, was a native of Gâtinais.

Born in Courtenay, he returned there frequently even as his Paris cabaret, Le Mirliton, enjoyed growing renown.
