Box beam ceilings, walls covered with enamel painted canvases, moulded panelling, magnificently sculpted furniture covered with Cordoba leather, Aubusson tapestries... Nothing was too exquisite for Jacques Groslot, advisor to François II of France and a keen advocate of modernism! Behind the beautiful red-brick façade built between 1530 and 1550, you will discover the history of this private residence transformed into a "community building" over time: first as a ballroom, then the former board room and office of the mayor and finally, the assembly room where François II died after presiding over the 1560 Estates General with his mother, Catherine de Médicis. Restored in 1850 by the architect, Delton, the interior of Hôtel Groslot also contains Joan of Arc memorabilia.
