What does? The Loire, of course, the last untamed river in Europe, with its wooded islets, its exceptional fauna, and its curves and banks lined with willows, maples and poplars. It sets the tone of wide open spaces where breathing is second nature : the galloping plains of Beauce, where blond wheat turns golden in the sun; the mysterious, secretive and oh-so-romantic Sologne forest ; the immense national forest of Orléans ; the Montargis forest, a kingdom of silence made up of oaks and pines ; bocage studded with woods and canals; or valleys and lush meadows… Nature has unhurriedly shaped a land rich with new discoveries : an ideal place for rest and relaxation, a universe of repose and well-being where the gaze roams far and wide, from the tip of a tree swaying gently in the sun, to fragrant undergrowth or hedges which divide up a landscape sculpted by man. The whole, good-natured countryside combines vast expanses with peaceful villages that ring with the sound of birdsong and country church bells.
